  • Ground broken for billion kronor investment in new airport maintenance area at Stockholm Arlanda

    Ground was broken today for Stockholm Arlanda’s new airport maintenance area. Modern, functional and environmentally sensitive maintenance facilities are now being built for the airport’s vehicles as part of Stockholm Arlanda Airport’s development plans. As a result, space will be created for the new pier that needs to be built to handle the growing passenger volume – an important step for ensuring Sweden’s access.

    Statistics for passenger volume at Swedavia’s airports in October show a 3 per cent increase compared to the same month last year. During the first ten months of the year, passenger volume was up 5 per cent compared to 2015.

    On Friday, the Swedish and US governments signed a bilateral agreement to introduce US border control at Stockholm Arlanda Airport. In conjunction, Swedavia signed an agreement with US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) on how this function will be handled at the airport.

    Passenger volume at Swedavia’s airports during the first nine months of 2016 increased 4.8 per cent. The biggest growth, 5.5 per cent, was in domestic travel. Net revenue increased to SEK 4,134 M (4,099). Operating profit was SEK 879 M (1,679). Net revenue for the first nine months of the year was positively affected by this passenger growth, and profit was affected by capital gains of SEK 146 M (820).

The hotel is expected to have about 460 rooms and will be a modern alternative to business hotels at the airport that offers everyday luxury. The hotel is an important piece of the puzzle in the construction of the new airport city.

That is a slight increase, 1 per cent, compared to the same month in June 2015, but the SAS strike had a strong impact mostly on domestic traffic.
