Åre Östersund Airport was inaugurated in 1958, and today represents an important airport for the region. The airport is located one hour from Åre and ten minutes from Östersund. Approximately 100 people are today employed at Åre Östersund Airport.

Increased coordination creates the airport of the future

Sweden is a leader in developing airports with least possible environmental impact. Stockholm Arlanda pioneered a number of innovations in air traffic management to reduce carbon emissions. Now the airport, in partnership with the Swedish Transport Administration and Viktoria Institute, is further reducing its environmental impact while making door-to-door travel more sustainable.
