Cookie information

Cookies are small text files that are saved on your computer and contain information about your usage of a web site. Cookies enable visitors to access various functions. Swedavia’s web site makes use of cookies.

Cookies are often used internally in a web browser to communicate with the web site but can also make navigating the site easier. For instance, they allow any settings or preferences to be saved so users do not have to make repeated entries. They also enable the gathering of visitor frequency statistics for different web sites.

There are two kinds of cookies:

  • Session cookies, which are temporarily stored in the computer’s memory whilst the visitor uses a web site. Session cookies are erased when the browser is closed.
  • Persistent cookies, which remain in the visitor’s computer until they are removed.

At Swedavia’s web sites no personal data are automatically stored in cookies. Most cookies are temporary and erased when the web browser is closed.

At Swedavia’s web sites cookies are used:

  • To keep track of when certain sound files are played
  • To gather statistics (Google Analytics, Vizzit and others)
  • To ensure that certain functions can  save settings
  • For session management (in communication between the browser and server).

If you want to avoid cookies

To avoid cookies, your browser must be set to deny cookies or to ask each time a web site tries to place a cookie in your computer. In the web browser, you can also choose to erase the cookies generated up until that point, but it means your personal settings will be lost. See your web browser’s help pages for more information.

The Swedish Post and Telecom Authority (PTS), which is the supervisory authority in this area, provides additional information about cookies on its web site – www.pts.se
