Reduced carbon dioxide emissions are one of the areas the airport is focusing on – since 2004, net emissions of carbon dioxide have been cut by more than half. Swedavia has long worked with energy issues at the airport and has reduced its total energy consumption by 25 per cent in four years. As a result of this and other efforts, the airport was awarded the 2009 Swedish Energy Prize.
