    According to the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO)’s World Tourism Barometer, Sweden has the 19th highest receipts from international tourism. Sweden thus climbs two places in the list of countries with the highest total receipts from international tourism.

  • Increased travel in April

    In April some 2.76 million passengers flew to or from one of Swedavia’s eleven airports, an increase of four per cent compared to the same period in 2012. The number of domestic passengers was up four percent to 1,123,000, and the number of international passengers was up four per cent to 1,643,000.

  • Swedavia’s Annual General Meeting 2013

    Swedavia’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) was held on April 26, 2013, at Clarion Hotel Arlanda Airport. The AGM re-elected the Board of Directors in full, adopted the income statements and balance sheets for 2012 and discharged the Board members and the President and CEO of liability. The AGM also voted to adopt all other proposals.

  • Focus on more attractive airports and passenger satisfaction

    Investments to make the airports more attractive, stronger financial efficiency and a slight decline in passenger volume sum up the first quarter of 2013. Net revenue for the quarter increased to SEK 1,213 M (1,160), and operating profit improved to SEK 146 M (137).

  • Swedavia inaugurates new Terminal 2 at Stockholm Arlanda Airport

    Today at Stockholm Arlanda Airport was the inauguration of the new Terminal 2, which resembles a modern city airport with speedy, smooth flows. The terminal has expanded by more than 2,000 square metres and now offers a wide range of options for shopping, food and beverages. In 2015, a new baggage sorting facility will also be inaugurated, with Swedavia as a result investing a total of about 400 million Swedish kronor in the refurbishment of Terminal 2. The objective is for Stockholm Arlanda Airport to be Scandinavia’s most modern and passenger-friendly meeting place and airport. 

  • Non-stop service to Dubai from Stockholm Arlanda with Emirates

    Emirates, based in Dubai, is the largest airline in the Middle East. On September 4, Emirates will launch daily departures between Dubai and Stockholm Arlanda Airport. With non-stop service to Dubai, Swedish passengers will have easy access to Emirates’ network of routes and its large number of destinations mainly in the Middle East and Asia. 

  • 2.7 million passengers at Swedavia's airports in March

    The number of international passengers in March increased slightly compared to  2012 as measured by the number of passengers at Swedavia's eleven airports. Meanwhile the number of domestic passengers fell, which led to a three per cent decrease in the total number of passengers compared to the same period in 2012, due largely to the Easter weekend falling in March.

  • Earth Hour – Swedavia sets a challenge!

    Every hour is an environmental hour for Swedavia, which through proactive work has reduced its energy use by about 20 per cent and carbon dioxide emissions by almost 60 per cent since 2005. Saturday, March 23, is Earth Hour, and Swedavia is taking the opportunity to challenge all passengers the entire week to carbon-offset their trips.

  • Leap year impact means decline in air travel in February

    Travel in February 2013 fell three per cent overall compared to the same period in 2012 measured in the number of passengers at Swedavia’s eleven airports. The decrease was essentially in domestic travel, with the number of international passengers unchanged.

  • Thai Airways celebrates anniversary at Stockholm Arlanda

    Thai Airways has been serving Stockholm Arlanda for over 25 years. Today, Swedish passengers can fly daily to Bangkok and twice a week to Phuket during the winter season with Thai Airways. This long collaboration was celebrated today with an event at Stockholm Arlanda, which included the participation of Thailand’s prime minister, Yingluck Shinawatra, as well as the president of Thai Airways, Sorajak Kasemsuvan, and Swedavia’s CEO, Torborg Chetkovich.

  • Swedavia awarded for its forward-thinking initiative

    Aviation Academy – an industry event for decision-makers in the aviation sector – was held on February 7. The day ended with Swedavia being given this year’s Sigma Aviation Award “for its dedicated environmental work to achieve and maintain carbon-neutral airports with good profitability”.

  • BARN DOM exhibition now at Stockholm Arlanda Airport

    The BARN DOM exhibition has now moved from Fotografiska, the Stockholm museum of photography, to the Terminal 5 arrival hall at Stockholm Arlanda Airport. The exhibition is a unique project which consists of photographs taken by children who have or have had cancer at an early age.
